Eight tables

Eight tables, cash games

Eight tables make up the poker room at the resort, and the room deals cash games. That is the full published size of the room. On the schematic floor plan, that is eight dots, one for each table.

Cash games start at 2 p.m. every day of the week. The posted closing hour changes with the night: 1 a.m. from Sunday to Wednesday, 2 a.m. from Thursday to Saturday. All times are Mountain time. Holiday hours are not published; for those, the casino line is 403-342-5825.

By phone

Seats and late play by phone

The poker room line, 403-342-5825 ext. 3, takes questions about late play, open seats and which games are running. Stakes are not published. Neither is the way to get onto a waiting list, so both are questions for that same line.

Readers driving in from Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Innisfail or Blackfalds may want to call before leaving home. The posted hours say when the room deals cash games. They do not say whether a seat will be free at a particular table on arrival.

Hold'em in the main pit

Ultimate Texas Hold'em is a table game, not a poker-room game. The player plays against the dealer's hand, and a Trips bet sits beside the main wager. The resort deals it in the main pit, on the pit's own hours. The pit opens at 2 p.m. every day. It shuts at 1 a.m. on Sunday to Wednesday nights and at 2 a.m. on Thursday to Saturday nights.

Poker at the second room in town

ACE Casino Red Deer, at 6350 67 Street, is the second room in town. It once traded as Cash Casino Red Deer. Its poker room opens at 3 p.m. and plays until the game breaks.

No table count for that room is published. The resort's poker room, by comparison, opens at 2 p.m. and has eight published tables. Other questions about hours at ACE go to its own line, 403-346-3339.
